The Cab Ride
Written, Directed and Produced
by Giuseppe Scarpitta

DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHY
Giuseppe Scarpitta attended Northwestern University where he studied Biology, Cinema Studies and Acting. Although choosing to build a career in Nuclear Medicine, he never lost interest in Filmmaking. Over the years he has Directed and Produced a number of films including Das Slimey (a spoof on Young Frankenstein), Timber Trails (a documentary serving to protect an ancient Indian burial ground), Happily After, Boy’s Life and various music videos.

FILM BACKGROUND
The Cab Ride, his biggest Directorial production to date, began as an Internet Short Story about a Taxi Driver who explains the importance of doing small favors for strangers that can result in touching people’s lives in large ways. After writing the screenplay to reflect his view of the Taxi Driver’s scenario, the vision became a reality. Upon completion, The Cab Ride to date has gained recognition from multiple Event Screenings and Official Selection status in twelve Film Festivals.

FILM SYNOPSIS
Joe Mielenski has a chip on his shoulder. He thinks he’s been dealt a short deck of cards, but trudges through life the best he can as a Taxi Driver. Enter Grace Stevens, a terminally ill woman who needs his help to get to a hospice to live out her final days. As they travel along her chosen route, it becomes an astounding trip through memory lane. Eventually their generational contrasts and differences of opinion surface, but in the long run they find a way to influence each other’s lives.
